La lingua thai è di una difficoltà inverosimile!
L'unico aspetto positivo è che, al contrario di altre lingue orientali, esiste un alfabeto, anziché ideogrammi, ma la pronuncia è di importanza fondamentale.
Un semplice esempio è la parola che a noi suona coma "MAI":
usata al fondo di una frase indica che è interrogativa (se pronunciata come noi facciamo con l'ultima parola prima del "?"...
però vuol dire anche "NO" se utilizzata nel mezzo di in una frase e paradossalmente vuol dire anche "MAI"...
vuol dire anche "legno" e in forma dialettale/amichevole anche "stuzzicadenti", se non sbaglio "tavolo" e qualche altra cosa che non ricordo. Ricordo solo che c'é una filastrocca che tipo "non sono stuzzicadenti sul tavolo di legno?" (o qualcosa del genere) che in thai ci suona come "mai mai mai, mai , mai?"
Sta di fatto che un thai riconosce il significato anche se la parola "MAI" è pronunciata singolarmente, tutta questione di tono.
In ogni caso, quasi tutte le parole thai hanno poche lettere e hanno 10 significati diversi in base alla pronuncia fonetica.
E' utile saperlo? No, prima di raggiungere una pronuncia discreta ci vogliono mesi se non anni.
Poi i thai, quando gli fai una domanda si "switchano sul faranghese" (si predispongono all'inglese) e quindi se provi a fare domande in thai, anche se sei bravo, loro penseranno che stai usando qualche parola inglese che non conoscono e ti guarderanno sbigottiti.
Poi ci sono i termini che tutti imparano: teelak, leoleo, chacha, sabai mai?, aloy makmak, iktung makmak, bwua mai? suai suai! ecc...
(rispettivamente: amore mio, velocissimo, pian piano, come stay? , molto buono, mi manchi un casino, ti annoi?, sei bellissima)
In quei giorni ancora avevo contatti con una thai di BK e da quel che mi diceva e' sempre andata in palestra regolarmente, forse i divieti sono solo per stranieri?

Under the new regulations, restaurants, pubs, bars and karaoke shops will be allowed to stay open until 23:00. Liquors can be sold and served. Convenience stores must close between 23:00 and 05:00.
Musical performances are allowed, but dancing is prohibited.

Dunque possono riaprire A-Go-Go e club anche se non è chiarissimo cosa faranno le ladies attorno al palo dato che non dovrebbero muoversi. Inoltre in tutti questi bei posticini ladies ed avventori dovrebbero continuare ad osservare distanziamento e mascherinamento.
Tutto ciò proprio ora che il governo aveva decretato ufficialmente chiusi gli alberghi pattayani, in modo tale che ai dipendenti fosse riconosciuto il salario di sostegno. Ora, tranne coloro che riescono a lavorare col turismo locale (soprattutto da BKK), gli altri rimarranno chiusi finchè non si vedrà un po' di turismo vero.
